Welcome to my site!

My name is Chris Carr, and I’ve been working in the networking industry since 2012, starting as a Support Engineer, progressing through to Professional Services and then Pre-Sales. I am currently a Solution Architect at Extreme Networks, and across all my roles I have been working on networking and security infrastructure.

Enough of my credentials though, this was a long winded way of saying that I’ve been doing this for quite a long time, and hopefully I can share information within the industry, both newcomers and seasoned veterans!

Wi-Fi was the first technology that really caught my attention in my career. I honestly can’t put my finger on exactly what it was, but my best guess is that with wireless technologies, there’s always something to learn. It constantly challenges you to learn integrated technologies, new concepts and re-assess established “wisdom”.

The Wi-Fi Community

Sharing my own thoughts on the industry, encouraging discussion and challenging norms seemed like a logical next step. Creating this was quite a big deal for me, as I typically prefer to avoid social media, but the Wi-Fi Community is such a wonderful thing to be a part of, I felt an onus to contribute.

We stand on the shoulders of giants. The community thrives because of huge personalities that focus on empowering others, rather than personal gain. Information is often considered an “edge” in various competitive landscapes, but within Wi-Fi, this information is shared freely. Events hosted by WLPC, Wi-Co, Ekahau Design Day, and many others are wonderful examples of this.

Goals

I hope to be a small part of this effort, encouraging and enabling new voices within the community. Both those that have been around for a long time, but quiet, as well as those early in their career.
